A Funny Old Week In April!

Before I get into the funny old week in April and I should probably mention a capture I had first in the middle of March which started the year off nicely. It was a fairly cold day but the sun was starting to get some warmth to it and so going off precious years I started off in hideaway due to the reed bed across always getting that first bit of warmth from the spring sun, I remember my good friends Tom and Liv joining for a cuppa whilst they do there usual getting some product photos done and I was lucky enough to get a take whilst were sat there and to my amazement it was ‘Buster’ at a nice size of 25lb happy days!

Fast forward a month with hardly any fishing done due to a demanding job which sees me knackered when Friday comes around but on the 19th of April I was unfortunate to pull my back whilst at work which saw me in A&E, lucky enough it wasn’t too bad, the doctor said take some time off work but don’t do anything, to which I thought awesome! Time to get some fishing in. It was a struggle but I managed it, that afternoon off I went to Wyndham and in the evening I managed to wangle 2 fish out, a new 20 for the water at 21lb and old ‘Veins’ at 18.12, luckily Daz Clarke was on hand for the 21 so got some lovely photos of that and if I remember right he had one as well sat waiting for a photo, just shows the fish have feeding times in spring. My next session was 2 days later, this time it was just for a morning and I was lucky enough to catch ‘Rib Eye’ and lucky enough this time Mark was on hand for the photos at a weight of 23.12, a fish I not had before so happy days!

The next session was on the Saturday, I remember turning up and there was a couple on but having spoke to another member he informed me that there was fishing showing Hideaway, so, I thought sod it, it’s got to be worth a few hours. So off I went before I got fishing I went for a look to see if there was any fish in there, and there was! A couple of handfuls of bait was put in and around the reeds, I got a rod into the zone and I just remember the swan came for a looking, I had some bread in my bag, so I fed the swan and the whole time I was feeding the swan, all I can remember was watching the reeds knocking all the time and thought “it’s got to go”. Just as I’d ran out of bread, the rod was away and so battle commenced! It felt a good fish from the off and after 5 mins the fish popped up it and I knew straight away it was ‘Boxing Day’, I couldn’t believe it, but in the net she went! The first thing I did was unhook her so she sat in the net peacefully, and got straight on the phone to Mark asking him to come down for the photos and also my mate Tom who happens to be RG’s photographer, We got some amazing photos, big thanks to them and Elaine for the assistance. The ‘Boxing Day’ weighed in at 30lb 2oz, an amazing fish and one I won’t forget! And a week I won’t forget for that matter!

Tight lines,

Chris
