Alderfen - Winter into Spring

Although the complex has been very quiet throughout the last lockdown, those that did manage to fish have enjoyed some superb winter results, particularly on Wyndham. Afternoons have been bite time with Ric Williamson finally capturing the ‘Boxing Day’ fish at a new lake record of 28lb 10oz within an hour of setting up for an evening session. Chris Moore has caught consistently throughout the winter with some superb fish caught, including a scale perfect common at 25lb 4oz and other low 20’s and upper doubles. Kirk Collins had both Buster and possibly the same common as Chris, both at 25lb plus. Luke Adcock captured the outline common at 24lb 8oz and Mick Tucker has caught consistently, including a brace of 20 plus mirrors in quick succession. Daz Walker has had some stunning fish topped with a fully scaled at low 20’s, a different fish to Martyn Later’s fully scaled fish also at 21lb. Careful bait placement, fishing for one fish at a time and balanced rigs seems to be the tactic that has led to the captures of that lot, still far too cold to fill it in with boilies just yet!
