Weekly Round Up

Its been a stop start couple of weeks on the fisheries. The bitterly cold nights have made the fishing unpredictable, never the less all the lakes have done some good fish. The lakes have been quiet so the frosts have put the anglers off more than the fish to be honest!

Pick of the crop has to be the capture from Mesters of ‘Wurzel’ by Nick Page at a weight of 30lb 6oz. Its over 12 months since she last slipped up but Nick had only cast in 20 minutes prior to the bobbin moving on a bitterly cold evening. Scott Browne has been getting a few, pick of the bunch is a superb mirror at 25lb 8oz, this is one of our home grown fish from the farm stocked at 15lb in autumn 2018 so thats another youngster piling the pounds on. Iggy White had a brace of scaley mirrors and new member Josh Nichol got off the mark on his first session with a classic looking Mester’s mirror. Young angler Sonny Page added to his impressive tally of fish when he went looking for them and sneaked another old original out of the edge, top angling! No one fishing Little Mesters these past few days, there were fish all over on top Sunday afternoon when we were down doing some work, does no one fish floaters anymore?

On to Alderfen. Wyndham has been quiet and the frosts have done us no favours. Kirk Collins continued his run of good fish with more stunning mirrors falling to his rods but little in the way of angling pressure to trip any more up. Pads Lake has woken up with some excellent catches been recorded by numerous anglers, loads of doubles with fish to 19lb been out this week. We’ve moved 150lb of roach and rudd from Pads lake to the Gate Pool this past month which has been well received by our pleasure angling members. Catch of the week fell to young Lily Hill who had the bobbins bouncing on the gate pool with 4 lovely carp falling to a bright pink wafter fished over a bag of pellets, top lass!
